Rapid change and the constant need for re-invention leaves us longing for products with an emotional resonance that tell a story. Ready to wear chair is about simplicity in material and in meaning. The chair describes the importance of intimicy, protection, warmth and comfort. We all take life so seriously these days. And we should. But take a moment, smile and sit down !

Special Exhibition of Berlin Fashion Design at the Milano Moda Donna 2006.
On initiative of the German Ambassador to Rome, the german capital, which recently was awarded the title “City of Design” by the Unesco, presented itself at the renowned international Fashion Fair “Moda Donna” in Milan. The main idea of the exhibition was to show Berlin for what it is: an open, creative trend workshop for the fields of Fashion and Design. For this special exhibition with outfits of young and upcoming Berlin Fashion Designers, Coordination, a founding member of “Create Berlin e.V.”, has conceived a dynamic presentation landscape. Playfully interlacing Berlin Icons, created by the Graphic Design Studio “substrat”, invite on a journey of visual discovery over a 250 sqm graphic area passable on foot. Studio tables with personalized descriptions of the designers grant insights into the creative minds behind the outfits. On the opening day, the exhibition was accompanied by a large scale fashion show of the current collections of the Berlin Fashion Designers Lala Berlin, 30 paarhaende, von Wedel & Tiedeken, Macqua, Presque Fini, c.neeon und Sisi Wasabi.

Using minimal low cost materials to create large user volume, SITCITY is particularly interesting for public spaces in low income urban areas, playgrounds and educational institutions as well as events and exhi- bitions. Lightweight and quick to set up, SITCITY is suitable for temporary installation and use. Design variations in the configuration of the inner tubes create various possibilities of use. The SITCITY bench offers space for two to four people, depending on their orientation. Photos by Marcel Meury

The concept of cine@citta is to bring cinecitta back to public attention through an interactive game system. The project involves the public directly with cinecitta through the incentive of winning. The concept proposes 2 levels of interaction.Interaction via public media in circulation such as public transportation tickets and cell phone cards and via a net of interactive nodes spread all over the city of Milan. The interactive game system is based on cinecitta movie scenes that are identified using a cell phone as the personal identifier. The players collect cinecitta points or enter a prize lottery. A relationship with the cinecitta story and movies is re-established in a playful and challenging way. a system of nodes infiltrate the city and uses the infrastructure of the city as interactive projection surfaces. A center node acts as receiver/ transmitter and creates a physical space for immersive experiences. In collaboration with Nikiforos Maragos and Gregory Poletta.

Organic Match is the result of extensive research on the organice food market, food production and sale alternatives, nutrition, functional foods, consumer groups and community services. The project concept is to create an experience of food and sharing, a challenging exchange, an organic give and take. An inspiring introduction to organic food in a non-store context. Bringing generations together through the preparation and enjoyment of a natural meal. the medium of public contact is a TV cooking competition, a TV game show. Organic Match is filmed in organic environments and uses only organic produce, sponsored by local farmers. Two teams consisting of a family matched with a senior each, cook against each other with surprise ingredients in a limited timeframe. The exchange of interests, thoughts and knowledge while preparing and later sharing the meal, offers the possibility of wonderful encounters between all generations. Concept and prototype in collaboration with Alina Schürfeld.

SHARING symbolizes gestures of interaction between people. People meeting, different ways people greet each other, symbols of belonging, the sharing of emotions, experiences and information. Interaction can be an intimate exchange between two people or a networking experience among a group of people. SHARING allows people to connect. Connect to each other via two rings or to connect to a network via a necklace. Inserted into a standard computer USB port, SHARING functions as a conventional USB memory device.
Stereotype is the materialization of a contemplation process on the impact of clothing. The clothes that one wears often are a means of expressing the self, even defining the self. Clothes have the intensity of the personal and the power of the general. Clothes are a metaphor for being human. They are an intimate expression of personality, an external representation of an inner intentionality. How intentional is that expression ? Why do I wear certain clothes or labels ? Am i following a fashion trend to belong to a certain group ? Or distinguish myself from a certain group ? Am I trying to make a statement ? Can I define myself through the clothes that I wear ? Am I a stereotype ? Am I ?

Mood is a haircare product line for the metrosexual. The urban male of any sexual orientation who has a strong aesthetic sense, is in touch with his feminine side and spends a great deal of time and money on his appearance and lifestyle. And the urban female who takes on an increasingly assertive role in the public world, is active and demanding and devotes as much attention to her appearance and lifestyle. The mood product line is based on the idea of the monodose. A flexible, high performance system of single portion hairshampoo, conditioner and hairgel modules for ‘on the go’ and / or ‘spa’ use. The products are carried in high-style containers for public show-off which are refilled by the user on demand. Designed for Sunstar in collaboration with Nikiforos Maragos.

PIZ for Dietiker is based on an upholstery material sandwich which is suspended within a metal frame. The material sandwich consists of a lasercut honeycomb core between a top and bottom layer of material. The cavities of the core are filled with a random array of scrap foam pieces. The pieces potrude upwards creating a sculptural upholstery surface. The layers are sandwiched and fastened by stitching which follows the same path as the lasercut of the honeycomb core. The laser path and the stitching path are computer guided and can vary indefinitely thus creating industrially produced pieces with a luxurious “one of a kind” feel. The concept of PIZ is a translation of the way Dietiker recycles wood scraps into new pieces of furniture in the upholstery context.

Project in collaboration with Nikiforos Maragos and Danil Kuzvesov

Domus Academy for Louis Vuitton

The concept of LV SCREENPLAY is the creation of an enclosed space within the context of existing Louis Vuitton store environments to display products for the younger customer. In this space the young customer feels comfortable and is allowed to interact freely with the products on display. The interaction level between customer and product is the focus of this concept to create product accessibility and a more immediate experience with the product. The space is a permanent display case, an accessible vitrine, hosting temporary display installations that have a more contemporary Louis Vuitton language and that can challenge the way people view Louis Vuitton merchandise. The structure provides a display area for Louis Vuitton products and an interactive kinetic mirror surface for the customer to try on and view products on themselves while moving around inside the vitrine. The motion behaviour of the mirror surface provides another level of customer to product interaction, creates visual interest and evokes curiosity.

The subtle and discrete use of technology and advanced materials is part of the LV architectural approach. It does not contradict or conflict with the existing Louis Vuitton interior design language and is a logical condition for the coherence of the project. Project in collaboration with Katrin Svabo Bech and Nikiforos Maragos.

To consume nature. a nature meal. nature _ nurture. The concept developed into the design of a nature product. Investigating the cycle of a product from materialization to waste. traces _ impact. The concept of disposable nature is a nature picnic. A set of disposable dishware made from natural materials in combination with biodegradable materials. The picnic becomes part of nature. The dishes disintegrate after use. Maybe creating someone new.
